Amigo T: A Tribute to a Champion Horse with a Heart of Gold

Showjumping enthusiasts mourn the loss of a celebrated champion, Amigo T, known for his record-breaking wins and unyielding spirit. This article pays tribute to this extraordinary horse who was not just an athlete but an embodiment of triumph and perseverance.

The Journey of Amigo T and Chloe Aston

Amigo T, a KWPN Gelding, began his journey in the world of showjumping with Chloe Aston when he was only five years old. Aston, who was 15 at the time, formed a formidable partnership with Amigo T that saw them triumph in numerous showjumping events across Europe.

"We started from the bottom, and went all the way through,” Chloe told Horse & Hound. “He had many great wins, he was just a little fighter with the biggest heart. When you rode him around the stables he could be quite spooky, but when you got him in the ring he wasn’t afraid of anything, he just wanted to win.”

A Horse Known for His Speed

Amigo T was particularly known for his speed, never content with going slow. Chloe shared, "There were many times he would win by four or five seconds.” His love for speed and fierce competition won him and Chloe two victories at the Liverpool International and multiple wins on the Sunshine Tour.

He loved a knockout class, and we won at Liverpool International twice. He had a lot of great wins. A few years ago we jumped five four-star grands prix and he won four of them, he also won multiple ranking classes, and a 1.50m on the Sunshine Tour,” Chloe added.

Amigo T: A Champion with 116 International Wins

About his showjumping achievements, it would be an understatement to say that Amigo T was successful. Chloe and Amigo T recorded an impressive 116 international wins during his 13-year competition career. “I don't think I'll ever have one as fast, or with the size of heart that he had,” Chloe said about her cherished partner.

He Will Always Be Remembered

Despite retiring from showjumping last year at the age of 18, Amigo T is remembered fondly not only for his victories but also for his unique personality. “He always loved a cuddle and attention, and always wanted to say hello,” Chloe shared, reminiscing about the times she spent with him.

Amigo T was put to rest earlier this month after falling ill, leaving behind a legacy of victory, perseverance, and a heart full of love for his human friends. This champion horse, who ran his race with unmatched valor, will always remain in our hearts.

Conclusion: A Legacy Continues

This article is a humble tribute to Amigo T, a champion horse who is remembered not only for his speed and victories, but also for his tenacity, spirit, and love. As a partner, a friend, and a champion, Amigo T's story is an inspiration for all, a testament to the incredible bond between humans and horses. We salute this amazing creature for a life well-lived and for leaving an indelible mark in the realm of showjumping.
