Ultimate Oil is a blend of high quality oils providing more than 190 bioactive nutrients including healthy ratios of Omegas 3, 6, 9 and rare Omega 7 - nourishing the body with essential fatty acids, minerals, plant sterols, antioxidants, amino acids, anti-viral and antibacterial nutrients and vitamins including Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, B15, C, E, K. All the oils in ultimate Oils are of the highest quality, easily biologically absorbed by your horse and are included at specific levels for specific reasons so they work together, creating a synergetic effect for the total health and well-being of your horse. One of these effects is the balance and ratios of essential fatty acids Omega 3 and Omega 6. Benefits of Wheatgerm Oil Rich in both Omega 3 Omega 6 fatty acids, research has shown Wheatgerm oil has beneficial effects on inflammatory status. Rich in Vitamin E &ndash High levels of naturally occurring Vitamin E provide power antioxidant benefits, protecting the cells from oxidative damage, supporting repair recovery. WGO has also been reported to improve serum levels of liver enzymes, and as such, WGO supplementation may offer additional protection for the Liver. In addition to the Vitamin E, Wheatgerm oil also contains additional carotenoids, such as Beta Carotene, which offer further antioxidant support to the horse. WGO also contains Octacosanol, a component of vegetable wax, recent studies have found this component of WGO may have a beneficial impact on performance, making this an ideal addition to the performance horse diet. The addition of Wheatgerm Oil to Ultimate oil provides additional benefits when horses are working hard are faced with increased challenges. Antioxidant content of the diet is a key element in minimising the negative impact of prolonged performance. It is important to remember that horses need a balance of both Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids for optimal health and performance. It isn't necessarily so that one is better than the other - they simply have different roles in the body and must be in balance with each other for optimal health and body function. Omega 3 is responsible for repairing cellular walls and maintaining a fluid and efficient waste-nutrient transfer. It's also critical for brain function and is instrumental in cleaning up after an injury has healed, acting as a potent anti-inflammatory. Omega 6 on the other hand, is responsible for causing inflammation and immune system reactions, which is necessary to stabilize injuries and fight off infections. Researches at Guelph University in Canada have shown that supplementing diets with flaxseed, a source of Omega- 3 fatty acids, reduced horses skin reactions to the bites of Culicoides midges. Some of these tiny incects are known to spread arboviruses to animals and humans. In horses, the bites cause intensly itching lesions known as sweet itch. The lesions often occur on the midline of the belly but can also be found on a horse's back and in the mane and tail areas. Treatment with steroids can help reduce itching, but dietary treatment may also offer relief. In the Canadian study, horses were given 500 grams of flax meal daily for six weeks. At the begining of the study and at the end of trird and sixth weeks, some of the horses were injected with Culicoides extraxt while others received injections of saline as a control. Allergic skin reactions to the Culicoides injections were significantly reduced in horses that had been given flax meal. Feeding Instructions: Feed 30-60 ml per day at maintenance or 90-150ml in times of elevated stress or workload. Split equally into daily feeds. Customer Testimonials: I should like to know when a human version of 'Ultimate Oil' will be available, especially if it does for me what it has done for my horse! My young rescue horse is looking so much better - his coat now has a lovely sheen to it, he is itching less and his digestion is much better. The little 15yr horse which I have just acquired has changed beyond recognition. She is developing muscle along her top line where she had none, she is eating better and making better use of her food and she is also moving better. Her developing winter coat (which is very thick) despite all the mud, is easy to clean and has a lovely shine and silkiness. I shall certainly be keeping them on this Ultimate Oil .
